Various content management systems are available to UWA staff to host information and services online.
MySource Matrix is the main content management system (CMS) used to host UWA web pages. Sites in the Matrix CMS adhere to UWA's visual identity and have a consistent appearance. Comprehensive training and support is provided when a site is launched in Matrix.
Sites in MySource Classic are being migrated to MySource Matrix. Training and support for Classic users is also available.
Help is also available for the UWA Newsroom (hosted in Drupal) and the UWA Events system.
What do you want your website to achieve?
Before you embark on publishing information online, you should consider:
- What are the goals/objectives of the website? That is, what should the website help you achieve?
- More enrolments / higher attendance at events
- Fewer enquiries / support calls by phone or email
- More efficient processing of information by using online forms to collect exactly what is needed
- Gather feedback about events or services for quality purposes
- More donations etc
- Who are the target audiences of the website?
- Is the information relevant to the general public, or specific to staff or students?
- Information specific to current staff and students, such as Teaching and Learning information, should be placed in the StaffNet and/or StudentNet.
- What are the key services, information and messages you wish to communicate to those audiences?
- What are visitors to your site looking for?
- Have you written the content and structured the navigation using terms site visitors will understand and identify with?
- Are there any key dates (for communications or promotions) which need to be considered?
- Is the information already available from another source?
