Web Site Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)
Can I edit my pages from home?
|
Yes you can. For security reasons the MySource backend (except for sites in the sponsored installation) is only accessible to computers on the campus network. This means that you may receive an Access Forbidden message if you try to /_edit a web page from outside the University network. If you are using a campus dialup account to access the Internet, you should be able to edit pages as usual.
There are two methods that you may use to edit pages from home or elsewhere. - SNAP Virtual Private Networking (VPN) allows your computer to act as if it is part of the UWA network while being physically on a different network. This option offers the most flexibility, but is more difficult to set up.
- If you have a Cyllene, Student or radius authenticated login, you can change your web browser's proxy setting to use the UWA proxy server. This will make it appear as though you are trying to edit your web pages from the campus network. This option is less flexible than VPN, but is much quicker and easier to set up.
After you've finished editing your pages you need to reset your proxy settings. | Back
